Luther Medalions became of interest to modern era churches who were inspired to continue the tradition.
In our own time, Luther has a new reputation as a theological giant of ecumenical significance who never intended the church to be divided. Consequently, in 1983, the American Lutheran Publicity Bureau issued a medal in bronze and silver, which on the reverse shows the swan and Luther’s coat of arms with Luther’swords in the center: “I believe that there is on earth through the whole wide world no more than one Holy Common Christian Church…” (backcover).
