Mapping Maryland A Behind-the-Scenes Tour and Talk
Was held Saturday January 12th, 2019 at the George Peabody Library by Paul Espinosa, Curator, Johns Hopkins University
The early territories of Maryland and the cityscapes of Baltimore took shape in beautiful maps and prints. This stunning selection from The Willard Hackerman Map Collection, a recent bequest to Johns Hopkins University, reflects the private passion of a collector; charts the early mapping of Maryland and Baltimore; and allows for their continued use through new digital technologies and teaching.
The map collection was a gift to the Libraries by the late Baltimore developer, philanthropist, and Hopkins alumnus Willard Hackerman and his wife, Lillian, in 2016.
